A Bit About Us

Well hello and thanks for dropping in on Fox and Yaffle house.  I'll explain the slightly odd name in a moment but first let me give you a bit of my story.  I have always loved growing things and even applied to go to uni to do a course in garden design, although that didn't happen in the end.  For years I have taken great pleasure in my garden and lovel plants of all kinds.  There is something very satisfying in watching all your hard work be rewarded with beautiful flowers and foliage.

After many years in Essex, we grabbed the opportunity to move out to the countryside and relocated to rural Suffolk and our lovely 16th century thatched cottage.  Its amazing to think we live in a house that was built when Henry VIII was king!!

We started our flower growing business in the field that came with the house and are gradually increasing the number of flower beds and plants we have each year.

In 2025 we expanded our business by purchasing Yaffle House artisan foods from the lovely Dawn who I had met while selling flowers at local markets.  The Yaffle House name comes from the green woodpeckers Dawn could see in the woods behind her house.

Our first year selling artisan marshmallows and infused vinegars alongside our flowers has gone really well and we have taken the decision to merge the two businesses to form Fox & Yaffle House.  So here we are and we are very excited to see what the future brings.

We have so many ideas for both our flowers and the artisan foods we love making so watch this space for new developments!!

Now

After living in Brentwood, Essex for almost forever, my husband and I took the opportunity to move out of town and into the lovely Suffolk countryside.  We purchased a beautiful 16th Century thatched cottage with an acre of land attached and started our flower growing journey.

One year and a lot of hard work later we had converted a third of the field to flower beds and now had 100 roses planted, over 100 peony plants and two small polytunnels full of seed trays!

Another new addition to the field, in May 2024 we purchased Bonnie, a 1971 Airstream Sovereign caravan.  She was installed at the top of the field with a loverly view over the flower field for vistiors who want some peace and quiet.  She is fully kitted out with solar, TV and all the mod cons.  She also provided the location and disco led lights for our first proper party in the field.  Rock n Roses with live music from our friends Steve and Greta and friends and family enjoyning the sun and music.

Still flower growing for farmers markets and weddings.  The opportunity came up to purchase an artisan food business from a friend who had been selling at some of the same markets as me.  We took the plunge and bourght the Yaffle House business from the lovely Dawn and started making our artisan marshmallows and infused cider vinegars.

Cut to present day and my husband Nick and I are still working hard on our business.  I can be found most Saturday mornings at Wycken Vineyards farmers market and also attend other markets around the area inlcluding Lavenham on the fourth Sunday of each month.  We have combined the flowers and food businesses into Fox & Yaffle House and are now looking to widen our range of foods and flavours so watch this space for new products!
